The north Queensland city of Townsville recently hosted the 26th Australia Papua New Guinea Business Forum and Trade Expo from 16th to 18th May, 2010.
MAXAM is currently increasing its presence in Australia’s closest Northern neighbour and were represented at the Expo by two PNG staff members, Gandhi Matainaho and Jimmy Michaels, and Australia’s Mining Division Manager Ross Prange.
The MAXAM crew spent the three days networking and attending information sessions on such topics as The Papua New Guinea Economy and Doing Business in Papua New Guinea and attended presentations by such dignitaries as Sir Puka Temu, Deputy Prime Minister of PNG and Ian Kemish, Australian High Commissioner to PNG. This was followed by a visit to Maxam’s Townsville depot to compare operations in Australia with those in PNG.
It was the first trip to Australia for Gandhi and Jimmy who are valued employees at the MAXAM PNG operation, which is located in the mountains above Lae. Gandhi is staying on in Brisbane for several weeks to assist the head office team in their operations.
